THE GEOLOGISTS’ ASSOCIATION - FOR ALL GEOLOGISTS
The Geologists’ Association (GA) is one of the few charitable
organisations supporting the interests of amateur and professional
geologists. Since its formation in 1858, the GA has actively promoted the study of geology encouraged not only its members, but all who have an interest in the natural world, to widen and deepen their knowledge of the subject. It is a friendly and inclusive organisation and welcomes everyone, regardless of the level of their knowledge.
Membership of the Geologists' Association is available by annual subscription. There are four types of membership:
Member:
Annual subscription £40.00. Members receive free copies of
the GA Magazine, the Circular and Proceedings and are invited to
attend all events, field meetings, indoor meetings and lectures.
Members are also entitled to use the Association's extensive book
and map library, housed at University College, London.
Joint Members: Annual
subscription £58.00 for two members subscribing from the
same residential address.
Student Member: Students
and Members under 22 may still join at the preferential rate of £18.00,
and receive the same benefits as Members
Associate Member: Annual
Subscription £30.00. All the benefits of Membership, but
without copies of the Proceedings.

What else does the GA do?
It publishes a comprehensive range of Field
Guides with
a special price reduction for GA members. Publications.
The GA
runs the Curry Fund, a trust
fund supporting a wide range of geological initiatives with grants
and interest-free loans. The Curry Fund Committee meets four times
a year and publishes reports in the GA Magazine after each meeting. Details

Annual Festival of Geology – This is your chance to meet up with our national network of Local Groups and Affiliated Societies in November each year. Many other Earth science related organisations, museums, rock, fossil and mineral dealers join us making for an action packed day for all the family. It’s
normally held in London, but every third year moves to a venue
elsewhere in the country. It will be in Liverpool in November 2007.
Rockwatch is the junior club of the GA. It has a thriving membership, publishes its own magazine three times a year, runs field trips and residential courses and promotes geology to the wider public through events in museums and at festivals of geology throughout the country. Members of the GA are often also members of one of the many UK local geological societies affiliated to the Association.
