The Geologists' Association (GA) exists for all
geologists and earth scientists, whether professional or amateur.
It acts as a forum for the exchange of information, and it is
a way for enthusiasts of all ages to meet people with similar
interests.
The GA runs field trips, lectures, and festivals
that are open to all, and it publishes a lively news magazine,
an informative 'what's on' leaflet, and a professional scientific
journal. It recognizes the contributions of amateur and professional
earth scientists through the award of medals and prizes.
The GA is committed to engagement and outreach,
bringing the latest information about the Earth, its past,
present and future, to all. Rockwatch,
the nationwide geology club and junior arm of the GA, engages
thousands of children each year in hands-on events, in museums
and other centres, and runs field trips for its members and
their families around the country. Through its Curry
Fund, the GA has provided some £250,000 over the
past 20 years to fund initiatives in geological conservation,
education and research around the country, providing support
to clubs, societies, organisations and individuals.
